It’s probably no surprise that I spend my days surrounded by the things I love most. (*Cough, purple) I’m so very thankful for a room with a large window and so much light! I traded the space of my old studio for the brightness of this one, and I couldn’t have made a better decision. If you ever wondered where a web designer gets their ‘code’ and ‘design’ on, here it is. And there’s usually a small puppy in here too, along with music and a mocha frappachino. Well, enough rambling- welcome to my studio ;)
Fresh flowers are a must, and I usually put them in my favorite ceramic rose vase from one of my clients. The items on my inspiration board get rotated out as I find new little snippets of inspiration. I’m currently enjoying some color swatches, watercolor paintings, and small art prints. I’ve also been sneeking frequent peeks at the color swatch piece I made a few months ago. It’s kind of the icing on the cake, isn’t it?
I used to be obsessed with fairies, and this one just looked too cute to box up and put away. I’m also a fan of birdcages, which is ironic since I’m not a fan of birds, lol.
Here are some of my favorite books on topics like web design, photoshop, small business, video game design, and art fundamentals. I can usually flip through the same book many times and get different ideas each time. I typically keep one or two on my desk to flip through when I get burnt out from staring at the computer for too long.
Aside from my own desk, I have a smaller desk for guests and/or Dax. Or for one of my many side projects ;) I try to keep things nice and neat in here, and it’s been fairly easy to do aside from the occasional train or hot wheel that makes it’s way in. This used to be Dax’s playroom believe it or not, so I wanted to keep the toybox in front of the window so he’d still have a little something in here. It makes for extra seating when more than two people are in here, too.
Besides books, my bookshelves hold other useful things like my watercolor pencils and brushes. You may remember my slight obsession with milk glass and white ceramics? I can’t help but sprinkle the room with some of my favorites here and there.
I really wanted this space to feel open, airy, and light- and I’m very pleased with the way it turned out. It’s the perfect color too! Who would have thought that I would choose a non-purple color for my studio? I even surprise myself sometimes ;)
So what does your workspace look like? Do you find yourself injecting your personality and style into it? I’d love to hear your comments!
