A few weeks ago I acquired a sweet little cedar chest from a friend who was moving, and I gave it the ‘paint it white’ treatment. It’s a very sturdy piece, and I really adore all of the details on it. When we got it, there were some spots on it, and a place in the back that had to be patched and sanded- but other than that it was in great condition. It also came with a glass top, and I can see it one day being used as a coffee table with storage for pillows, blankets, etc.
The inside still smells like cedar, which brings me back to my childhood at my grandma’s house. We had originally planned to put it in Dax’s room, and put his smaller toy box in the studio, but I really like it in here! It’s against the chalkboard wall, and Dax loves to climb on top of it and draw on the wall with his chalk. Chris added a friction hinge to the inside of it, so Dax wouldn’t drop it on his hand (ouch!)
I’m also wrapping up another painted piece- and it’s actually not white this time! I’ll be posting it next week, so please stop by =P
I have SO much left to do before the party on Saturday, eeks!
