If you’re interested in a custom wordpress design for your blog or website, here’s a detailed list of each design element. So many choices can seem overwhelming, but I’ll be here to help guide you every step of the way by offering recommendations and ideas.
For this example I’m going to reference my own site. Let’s get started!
First and foremost is a memorable logo for your new site. A custom logo will be created, or I can integrate an existing logo into the design. If you plan on providing your own logo, it will need to be in vector format (.ai or .eps).
The header/banner area is at the top of each site, and usually consists of a logo and navigational menu. It can also include a search box, social media icons, date, or a subscribe box.
When installing the new design for you, I will organize your pages and menu. If your pages have not yet been created, I will create them for you. Please note that the package does not include content insertion on pages, but can be purchased from the add ons page if needed.
The horizontal menu will by styled to coordinate with the fonts and colors chosen for your design. A sub menu can also be styled if needed.
The custom wordpress design package includes a contact form by the well known Gravity Forms. This plugin is included in the package, and will be installed for use on your site. It allows for truly custom forms, and can be used to build additional forms for your site as well.
Using the Genesis Framework provides many layout options for your project. Some of the more popular layouts are: content/sidebar (as seen above), sidebar/content, sidebar/content/sidebar, sidebar/sidebar/content, content/sidebar/sidebar, or a full width layout. So many options!
Since you will most likely be using a sidebar on your website or blog, the custom wordpress design package includes the customization of the titles on your sidebar.
The post and page titles will also be customized to match your custom colors and fonts.
Social media icons are also included, and can be used in any widgeted area, or in your header. Here they are being used in a footer widget.
This one is pretty self explanitory. Each design includes a unique color palette (usually consisting of 4-5 colors), and 3 fonts. The fonts will include a websafe font for page and post content, and up to two accent fonts for titles and headings.
For great design and SEO purposes, headings will be styled to coordinate with your theme. H1, H2, and H3 styled headings are included in the package.
Many wordpress users make use of the popular blockquote feature, and each design will include a styled blockquote box for your blog posts or pages. The blockquote is useful for highlighting important text.
After experimenting with many social media sharing plugins, I have found the lockerz plugin to be the cleanest and most customizable. A custom share button will be created and installed along with the lockerz plugin.
A favicon (short for favorites icon), also known as a shortcut icon, website icon, URL icon, or bookmark icon is a 16×16 pixel square icon associated with a particular website or webpage. Each custom wordpress design will include the creation and installation of a favicon.
A grab button can be ‘grabbed’ by readers and added to their own blog sidebar. The button and code will both be installed on your site.
Aside from these visual elements, the custom wordpress design package includes 3 rounds of revisions, digital logo files, and complete installation.
