C is for…
Dax’s Crab /Hand-Prints
I can’t believe that today we are already starting Week 3 of homeschooling. I’m late to update our first week, so I’m going to just recap the past 2 weeks…
Week A was easy and super fun for us both. Like me, Dax is particularly interested in art, games, music, and doing anything creative with his hands. Except when it comes to writing- he gets frustrated and says ‘I can’t do it” when I ask him to hold a pencil/marker/crayon to write letters. (And goes back to that gorgeous grip seen above). We’re working on it, but also trying not to force it on him. Other than that- it’s almost too easy to teach Dax- he’s a little sponge and wants to keep learning after each lesson!
Dax quickly adjusted to our new routine, and even started going to bed at 9:30pm… WHAT!?!?! Yeah, apparently all of this learning stuff can be pretty exhausting ;)
I started out teaching Dax about Astronauts (and making one), then I introduced the planets. We decided to do an ongoing science project with these planets, even though Dax wants to paint them all- at the same time. lol. I’m trying to stall and get him interested in other art things, and so far he’s painted five of them. I’d like to hang it above his desk once it’s complete.
And then there was B….
One of my favorite things about gathering my materials each week is choosing his books- and recalling my favorites from when I was a child. I can honestly tell you that my Granny read that copy of Button Soup to me too many times to count <3 A few of Dax’s books (mainly those that are my old books) are in poor condition, but I still can’t part with them. I’d like to replace copies of them eventually.
We went to the Balloon Festival, which was a great way to start the B week. Week 2 went by rather quickly, since we had company staying with us all week. Dax loved showing off his classroom and bulletin board filled with his work, so cute!
What about his Brontosaurus shirt? Yes, I try to think of everything!
Oh, and it’s the cutest thing EVER when he sings B-I-N-G-O!
