It’s Mardi Gras today and you probably don’t even realize it, do you? Ahh, I’ll forgive you ;) If you’re not in Louisiana, chances are you probably don’t know and don’t care about it. But since I live here and try to partake in some of the celebrations each year, I decided to show you a few of our Mardi Gras photos.
We went to night parade on Friday, and right where we walked up to the parade route there was a full band playing on someone’s front porch. Dax danced and I tried to take photos. During the parade, we liked these glowing dancers who threw us glow stick necklaces and bracelets. Woohoo!
This was us on Saturday. We left a bit before the parade ended, we were so full of beads and Dax was actually throwing in the towel. Also, I ended up with a lot of pink beads this year.
Things usually get pretty crazy and you see a lot of interesting things- this year we liked the lawnmowing dancing zombies. Dax just liked yelling at people, lol. I thought he looked quite cute with one of the garter belt throws on his head :P
The trees along the parade routes are always covered with beads, I love it!
This was the first year we went to the Spanish Town parade in downtown Baton Rouge, apparently hot pink and flamingos are the thing!
Have you ever been to Mardi Gras? Even if you haven’t, there is still no good reason to pass up tasting my favorite part of the holiday- THE KING CAKES! You can find many recipes for how to make them online, maybe you should try making your own? (You can thank me later)
