I was inspired by the post over at Design Love Fest about saving money, and I thought I’d share with you a new little journey I’m on.
It’s called saving money, and it’s basically a new concept for Chris and I- haha. Yes, we spend a lot of money on frivilous things. We’ve gotten better about it, but we’ve finally decided to crack down and get serious. Although I still like to shop and shop and shop (what girl doesn’t?), I’m going to have to do less shopping and more saving. It’s scary, and it’s probabl going to suck for a while- but I’m also looking forward to the challenge.
We’re currently going through Financial Peace University online, and there was something funny that caught our attention during the marriage/money lesson. Dave Ramsey explains that most couples consist of two types of people- a ‘nerd’ and a ‘free spirit’ when it comes to money, managing bills, and keeping track of things. So for the most part, you have some balance- even though you may fight a lot about money. Chris and I are different in that we are both free spirits, and that’s not really a good thing. We never fight about money, but we don’t have a ‘nerd’ to remind us that we shouldn’t be buying another video game or new pair of shoes.
So we’ve decided to change our behavior and buckle down. Wish me luck, b/c I’m going to need it!!!
How do you save money, and who handles the money in your marriage? Have you or anyone else you know gone through FPU?
